Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome to the 2014-2015 school year!
This is an exciting time for your child, although he/she may be a little apprehensive about going to "real" school. This is also a time of mixed emotions for parents---joy that your child is ready for school, but sadness because he/she is growing up! The first day of school will mark one of the most important milestones in your child's life. I’m so glad I get to share that with you.
During the first weeks of school we will be spending the majority of our time helping students get to know one another and becoming comfortable with various classroom routines. One of our main goals is to help students become independent workers and thinkers.
I would like to take this opportunity to tell you a bit about myself. My name is Braelan Keeler and I am one of four, grade 1 teachers at Morinville Public Elementary School. This is my fifth year teaching with sturgeon and I have loved every minute of it! I’ve wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember so this is my dream job! I love my job and hope to pass my love for learning on to my students. I am the youngest of 3 and grew up in a household with all girls. I recently got married on the beach in Mexico this past July. In my spare time enjoy singing (not usually on tune), dancing (to the beat of my own drum), snowboarding, playing softball, and flag football!
I have high academic expectations for your child and I will do all that I can to help your child achieve those expectations. Because you are an integral part of your child’s education, I feel home and school communication is of vital importance. I hope to talk with the parents and/or guardians of each of my students in the coming weeks. I plan to contact you personally in the next few weeks to introduce myself and see if you have any questions about the coming year. I would also like to extend an invitation for you to contact me at any time. I can be reached through the main office at school or via email. If you would like to talk in person, I am always available to schedule appointments before school, or after school. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
Be assured that I will do my best to make this school year an enjoyable time for your child, but also a time filled with real learning. The skills we practice daily in grade 1 are the building blocks for your child's future success in school and in life. I know if we all work together, we can make this a wonderful year for our students and help them reach each goal that is set for them.
Sincerely,
Ms. Braelan Keeler
